"Come along now," the vampire crooned, his tone containing the faintest traces of a wicked chuckle. There was something strangely sadistic about his gentle, coaxing phrase. The human, whose arm he had clamped in a vice-like grip, caught the cruel overtones. In fact, it was likely he entirely missed the softer undertones of the phrase. The creature was thin and emaciated, and his eyes had a miserable, terrified look as he searched frantically for a glimpse of a slayer, as he often did on these "outings".
For several years now, Ladislao had kept Sergio as a source of food. After all, why should he go hunting when he could have an infinite source of blood right there in his home, conveniently chained so it wouldn't run away. It was so much easier. The vampire glanced back at the human with a wicked grin, taking care to reveal his fangs as he observed the altered facial expressions of the human. It was so, wonderfully entertaining. He drawled, "I am getting quite thirsty. You know how dreadfully long our little walks can get!"
Squeak.
It took all his willpower for the vampire to hide his smirk. He continued meaningfully, "But, I have to wonder, should I bother with it now, or wait until later?..." He paused, as if in deep thought.
Yelp.
"I do find it so enjoyable to drink in... shall we say /large/ quantities?"
The human whimpered. By now, he was shaking so badly that Ladislao was surprised it still managed to stand.
Smirking, he said, "Come along, now. I will wait until after we get your food. Now... What was it I bought last time? I cannot remember whether it was Iams or Beneful." Ladislao spent the rest of the walk to the store pondering the differences between the two brands of food. By the time he arrived, he pushed open the door and announced, "I still cannot remember! So, which would you prefer?" Not waiting for an answer, he entered the store, human in tow.
