Yes that's right. Today is 9/11/11 and marks the 10 year anniversary of the day the world came to a screeching halt when the WTC towers fell and SO many lost their lives in four terrorist-caused plane crashes.
Many of you on this site who may find and read this may not have even been around let alone old enough to remember, but I was, am, and do... No, I wasn't directly affected by it: I'm not a servivor of it, didn't lose anyone in it, don't live in NYC and didn't at time, no 'miracal stories' of how I had ment to be there that day, no family members went off to fight after it. However, I AM AN AMERICAN CITIZEN and -like my parents' generation before me who will ALWAYS remember where THEY were when JFK was killed- 9/11/2001 will forever be burned into my memory....
[center]2001 was my last year of highschool. I was so thrilled to FINALLY be a senior! We had recently come back from the three-day Labor Day weekend and the marching band was making it's way up the hill and back into class. I had put my stuff in my locker and went down to my 2nd period class. I had gone to go in when I saw it on the TV in the classroom from the class before. I ran to my dad's room in the Science department to notify him, terror in my eyes. By then the 2nd tower had been hit as my dad hurried into the Science office to turnit on himself. Then the principal came on, announcing it to the entire school allowing those of us who wanted to go home do so. I drove home, turned on CNN and had to call my mom to let her know and to cry. I didn't know -what- was going to come....[/center]
