I walked over to Emma's cabin, and set the piece of parchment addressed to her down on the steps below her door. I knocked sharply on the wood, and quickly walked away before she could open the door.

The metal brace-things Stel had seen before were on his bed, next to Jack's shoes. She gasped loudly, and before he could turn to see her, she ran and ducked next to his door.

I set down the other piece of paper on the top of his steps, rapped on the door, and quickly ran away. I went to my cabin, leaned against the wall, and slid down the side. I started crying again, but muffled them, when Jack opened his door. I was glad he couldn't see me right now.

  • Wycca 16 WyccaJack started to adjust them, they had to be in perfect working order and he had to do it himself. More built around bone then he would have hoped, but there was no way to avoid that burning timber now. The pain had been unbearable but in a odd twist of fate he had discovered that opium was at least 12 percent morphine. He had stopped when constructing, it clouded his mind, but concentrating on something else diluted the pain.
